#INTRODUCEYOURSELF

EOS brought me to Steemit but the idea of leaving FB and using a different platform void of advertising, that allows for a potential income for my OFF-Grid homestead/ gardening/spirtuality blog has allowed me to consider this as a new medium in reaching out to people of like mind.

I signed up on Steem so I could follow Genereos and keep updated on what is going on in the EOS community. Once here I noticed people making money from their post. So I looked into it further and decided to give this a try.

Hello, Steemit, My name is Pamela, aka gardengranny. I am into fairies, guardian angels, spirit guides and love for Mother Earth. My husband and I moved on to forested land 6 years ago to create an off-grid homestead. We hope to be totally self-sufficient one day. Free of any dependence on the system for power and food.

Elvin, my husband and I are retired. So we were and are able to focus 100% on building our off-grid homestead. Our first reason for making this move was due to the direction the world was/is going and we wanted to be prepared as much as possible if the SHTF plus building a homestead allowed us to grow our own food and stay active. I do not think anyone wants to grow old, get fat and have nothing to do but sit around?

The second reason was in 2012 we read the series of books of Anastasia, Ringing Cedars by Vladimir Megre. In a nutshell, it is about getting back to the land and creating a space of love that can be passed on to your family.

With the understanding of a kin domain, we found land shortly after, 8.9 acres or just over 3 hectares of forested land in southern BC, Canada. The zoning laws allowed for 1 home per hectare of land so it opened the door to others joining us one day.

Our first building was what we call an MPAC, Multi-Purpose Activity Center. This building was first because it truly had a multi-purpose. Since we had hopes of a family or 2 to join us one day the MPAC could be used as a school, training center, activity center for everyone. We are also proponents of lean farming so the MPAC is a building that can be and is used for most everything we need to do such as woodworking, workshop, canning, fermenting, cold storage, storing grain for the animals, making animal feed, storage, sprouting grain, drying and preserving garlic, onions and so much more.

Next, we planted fruit trees and a vineyard. We built our chicken coop, then an experimental pyramid greenhouse which I hope to replace one day with a greenhouse that will house a rocket mass heater and can be used for growing in the winter. Last year we built another greenhouse for us and the chickens. This greenhouse is unique. It is designed by Elvin. The windows are placed in a way so they can be moved or removed to give total ventilation without the need of fans. The following photo is Elvin trimming the quinoa growing in the greenhouse. Man, I was so surprised at how tall it grew.

This year we finished our garden beds. I was hoping to post a whole lot more photos but I need to learn how to shrink them on here, first. Help would be appreciated.

Last year we brought in a temporary home. I hope to build an aircrete or earthbag home one day.

I have used six years researching and applying that research to fermenting foods, canning recipes, understanding soil and soil amendments, lasagne gardening, rain gutter grow systems, bucket systems, composting, making bokashi, cover crops, understanding no-till growing, how to make money from our homestead and so much more. I am currently writing a book to share everything I have learned to help others make the transition easier to living off-grid.

In my journey, I have realized most people dream of the lifestyle we have created but can not make the move. They are too wrapped up in life. They allow society and their beliefs, subconscious or otherwise to weigh them down. From reading books like Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, just to name a couple, I have realized we need to be at peace with ourselves and who we are in order to make goals we can actually accomplish and to be able to follow and fulfill our dreams.

I have a FB page that I started 5 years ago where I share all this knowledge and information and if this all goes well I hope to leave FaceBook and bring all my followers with me.

Just read a post about bots while I was writing this. If this platform is about making money via bots versus real interaction then this is not the place for me. When I see a post get 200 votes in the first 30 plus minutes, a person wonders about the legitimacy of the post or the person who posted the post, or is there really that much interest? Thoughts?

It is a pleasure to meet everyone. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I hope to meet many people here where we can share ideas and learn from each other. Feel free to follow me and ask questions. Namaste <3
