Correction of a common misconception
Now I'm probably going to have some comments both for and against this post however the importance of this post is not to persuade you of either side but to fulfill your child's request for fun one on one time.
Alot of parents and teachers believe that it is much better for limited to no video games for children however there are studies that prove that video games can be a valuable contribution to child educational and professional development as much as board games.
Video Games can be a fun and educational institution all in there own by helping peek personal and historical interests, promote and foster coordination, memory, attention span, concentration,hand-eye coordination, depending on the time spent and the game your vision, listening skills .
In addition to the very important attributes team work, social skills, multi tasking skills ,brain speed and accuracy, add in both fine and gross motor skills as well as reduces the risk to Alzheimer's and Dementia.
I personally think to keep a child well rounded they need both physical and virtual stimulation much like video games ,board games carry these same qualities as well as exposure to math (column, rows, numbers),allows them to blow off steam enhance their knowledge and moods by being able to sort of conflict and problem solve in creative and respectful manner causing them to be self confident and aware of their language skills.
Board games also help empower you self esteem, spelling, sense of humor and imagination by bonding with friends and family and allowing you to set goals in game and set realistic expectations for goals in life,as well as the ability to reduce your blood pressure which helps your immune system.
