Watching nature's never-ending cycle

There is a certain magic to being in the woods, a timelessness when observing all the subtle and not so subtle workings happening all around. These images represent brief moments in time within that grand, eternal cycle of life, death, and regeneration that makes up this peaceful ecosystem.

The new, vibrant green of new growth is a symbol of the forest's persistence. It is the first burst of energy and continued promise of life as the seasons turn and life reasserts itself. What starts off with pure potential begins the long journey where different types of plant life interact within their restricted environment of the forest floor. Every stem and leaf makes an element of the interactions that sustain the woods.

After that, there are the transients of beauty, such as the delicate flowers with the underbrush. Lots of beauty in its transitory appearances creates recognition of life as we live through our present moment, in the glow of a brief moment. As flowers or beauty fades, the forest will slowly allow them to contribute back to the cycle.

And the mushrooms. Often overlooked, but essential to forest life. They grow from decay and act like nature's recyclers. They break down what was once alive to nourish the soil in which their young can grow. Their presence vividly demonstrates change and how everything in the forest is interconnected, even as they return to the cycle.

These glimpse into the woods let out a steady come and go, a soft play where life and waste are not contrary powers, but just key parts of a bigger, pleasing complete. It’s a spot where waiting is paid off with the small showing of nature's large plan, a place that gives both comfort and a deep link to the earth's lasting beats.
