Early bloomers with significance
I always find it difficult to photograph flowers and blooming plants at the beginning of the warmer season. It's always overwhelming when it all starts, even though it's initially quite manageable to see which plants are already in bloom. For example, the ragwort plant in photo 1. You see it everywhere now. This plant is poisonous to many animals and humans. However, one shouldn't forget that it also has many uses. It's an important food source for many insects.
The next two photos show hawthorn. A plant found everywhere here, whose abundance covers entire landscapes with white blossoms. It is an absolute medicinal plant, especially for cardiovascular problems. In many mythologies, it was considered a protective tree that warded off evil spirits. This plant is also a food source for many animals. Birds, in particular, feed on the berries.
While walking the field edges and forests, it is awe-inspiring to remind ourselves that every plant is telling a story. Some old, some warning, and many are healing. As we experience the Hawthorn blossoming and Ragwort defiantly displaying its late summer glory, we acknowledge that nature does not simply adorn this world. She teaches, heals and awakens us. Let us cultivate continued observation, walking with reverence, and honouring the wild wisdom that abounds.
Thank you for taking the time to slow down and read. May the wildflowers walk with you. 🌼🙃✌️
