Abolish democracy

Another day in the perfect nation. Another day in paradise. It seems everyone is happy with what the system offers them. Just seeing the streets so well paved, so clean and painted tells you that this is the ideal place to live. I think it's the order we all aspire to; it's the least our leaders can offer us.

When something seemed to be starting to go wrong, society took action and raised its voice to get things back on track. Well, so far, so good. I like driving and not having to worry about stepping in a pothole that could damage my vehicle. I also like crossing the street at the crosswalk without worrying about being hit by a truck. The certainty that things are working well and that you can devote your thoughts to other, more important things is undoubtedly very pleasurable. But it seems something's missing...

After the Friday requests for blue pants and the controversy over eating one burrito from Don Tacos a month, I thought I'd seen it all. Today, the traffic is due to another demand from those in power; now, the vast majority wants to abolish democracy. I don't know what they'll come up with tomorrow. And, even more so, what will our leaders do if they overrule democracy? I fear for our society...

Abolir la democracia.

Otro día en la perfecta nación. Otro día en el paraíso. Parece que todos están felices con lo que el sistema les ofrece. Sólo, ver las calles tan bien pavimentadas, tan limpias y pintadas, te dice que este lugar es el idóneo para vivir. Creo que es el orden al que todos aspiramos, es lo mínimo que nos pueden ofrecer nuestros gobernantes.

Cuando algo parece que empezaba a fallar, la sociedad se ponía manos a la obra y alzaba su voz para que las cosas se acomodaran nuevamente. Bueno, hasta ahí todo bien. Me gusta conducir y no tener que preocuparme de pisar un agujero que pueda ocasionar averías a mi vehículo. También me gusta cruzar la calle por el paso peatonal sin tener la preocupación de que me vaya a pisar un camión. La certeza de que las cosas funcionan bien y de que puedes dedicar tus pensamientos a otras cosas más importantes, sin duda alguna son muy placenteras. Pero, parece que falta algo…

Después de las solicitudes de los viernes de pantalones azules y de la controversia de comer un burrito de Don Tacos al mes, pensé que lo había visto todo. Hoy el tráfico es por otra exigencia a los gobernantes, ahora la inmensa masa, quiere abolir la democracia. No sé qué se les ocurrirá mañana. Y, más aún ¿qué harán nuestros gobernantes si invalidan la democracia? Temo por nuestra sociedad…
