Floob Records on Hive - an introduction

From Zero, to Floob, to Floob Records...

In this intro post, I'd (@junkfeathers) like to share a little about our label, our Hive business model experiment, and what to expect from us.

What?

Floob Records is storehouse of music created by friends dating as far back as the 90's and continuing into the future!

We are not like any other label and Hive is not like any other social media so this feels like good match.

so...why are we different??

• no contracts to sign
• every artist owns their music 100%
• any style of music, any quality of recording
• believe in transparency (hence this post)
• what's important is creating music for music's sake
• and a logo to remind us not to take ourselves tooo seriously

Is that a business model?

Floob Records is more of a brand/logo than a label. It has been kept alive for 20 years by Mike (@floob132) and me. 2020 we decided to take it further. Starting with mainstream platforms to now Hive.

Mainstream (Spotify, Apple, and the like)

The artists promoted by Floob Records get to keep 80% of their streaming royalties. 10% goes to me and 10% goes to Mike. This is to pay for our cigars and jets, of course.

Mike is boots on the ground promotion, as well as mainstream social media.

I am running the

Hive Experiment

We are using Hive and Leofinance as a way to create a supplemental income to all FLoob Records artists (that create a wallet on Hive)

Every post from this account is set to pay Floob Records musicians as beneficiaries.

• Mike and I get 10% each (remember we need lots of cigars)
• @orkhammer and @fauxsophisticate get 5% each (Floob legends and also fine music contributors)
• all other musicians will get 1-5% (depending on their cool factor, i mean percentage of music released on the label)
• all the rest, including LEO and other Hive Engine tokens will be staked and powered up. (so we have more power to give power to the people)
• we will also be upvoting all Floob Records musicians and musicians who've collaborated with Floob Record artists.

This may change as it is an experiment, but the hope is to build up this account so that we can build up our musicians accounts. Plus, in the future maybe we can use our collective pool to make vinyl records! Or a a mansion with a pool and recording studio?!

I guess that depends on if you like us or not...

What We Post

Music! and more music!! This is what it's all about. Personally, music has saved my life countless times and if I didn't have friends that enjoyed making music with me I most likely wouldn't be making music today.

There are several new music projects in the works and we will also be sharing our past musical endeavors. Recording our history on the blockchain with you here on Hive
