My First Earning:Eighty Naira Beginnings
Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen
I'm @flawless-dee and here's my experience/story.
Growing up with a hardworking mother, hustling was the only language spoken in our home. There was no shortcut story, no soft landing. Money came from effort, sweat, and patience. I watched my mother sell fruits daily, stand under sun and rain, count change carefully, and still smile. From her, I learned early that legit money carries pride and that earning is different from begging. That mindset settled in me quietly and stayed.
Me at 11 years
Don't worry I'm just too young and slim for my age😁
As I grew, independence followed me naturally. I liked working for my own money. I never waited for handouts, and even when help came, which was rare, I treated it as a bonus, not a right. At eleven, I began helping my mother hawk fruits around our junction. Carrying a tray on my head taught me balance, boldness, and how to speak to strangers without fear. Somewhere along the line, I decided I wanted money that was truly mine, pocket money I earned by myself.
One day, an uncle visited and dashed me two thousand naira. Instead of spending it on sweets or toys, I saw an opportunity. That Saturday morning felt playful and free. There was no school, and my mother had no fruits to sell that day. With nothing to hawk, I picked my tray and walked to the next shop after ours, where a woman sold sachet water in both wholesale and retail.
At that time, a bag of water was eighty naira. Inside were twenty sachets. Simple math told me I would gain one hundred and twenty naira per bag if I sold everything. I bought my first bag and walked into the nearby motor park at the junction. The place was always loud and busy, full of travelers, drivers, and restless conductors.
To my surprise, I sold the first bag in less than ten minutes. Excitement pushed my legs faster. I returned for another bag, then another. Before the day ended, I had sold eleven bags. Using eighty naira repeatedly, I made one thousand three hundred and twenty naira. That was my first pocket money, earned at age eleven.
It felt exciting, powerful, and grown. My mother was proud, though she later stopped me because the park became unsafe for a little girl. Still, the feeling of that first earning stayed with me, strong, noisy, and unforgettable.
This is my first pocket money experience
