Devil's Peak Silvertree Saison for #BeerSaturday
Returning to one of the beers that I do not always have access to is a sweet treat. Funny enough, some beers are more accessible to me 1200km away from the brewery than close to the brewery. Devil's Peak beer company is about 60km away from my home, but when I visit my partner, who lives a 1200km away from the brewery, I find all of their special beers which I do not find close to me.
Logistics is a strange game, where transport costs are sometimes cheaper for longer distances. Strange this game we play.
Either way, I found my way back to this Saison, a special brew from my favorite brewery. And everytime I return to it, I am blown away by its taste. It is not something I will drink everyday, but this is a good break from my usual drinking.
(I am still on the diet, so I am still on just one beer!)
Silvertree Saison
Saison (farmhouse ale) | 5% ABV | ?? IBUs
The first smell was close to a weiss or witbeer, with some blonde elements. But it was predominantly fruity with some yeast elements shining through.
I also got some hints of malt, reminding me of especially witbeers.
The first taste very refreshing; almost like leffe blond. But it was also close to witbeer, especially Hoegaarden.
It was nice and full bodied but no real head (at least, at first it was good, but soon faded) and no real lacing either. It was nice and carbonated, but maybe a bit too much.
Sadly, the taste did not linger too long in my mouth. (In the old days before my diet, it would be at this point that I grab the second beer!)
There is no bad day when you have a good beer. Even a mildly bad day can be helped by a mildly good beer. Funny how life is.
Either way, I hope that you will have a good day and a good beer for #BeerSaturday.
All of the musings and writings are my own. The photographs are my own, taken with my Nikon D300.
