Sometimes I Just Want to Disappear for a While

There are some days I just don’t feel like talking to anyone. Not because I’m angry or sad. I just feel like disappearing for a while and staying alone in my own little space.

I wake up and everything feels too loud , the house, the group chats, school noise, even my own thoughts. It’s like my head is full but empty at the same time. You get?

People say being a teenager is fun, but they don’t talk about how confusing it can be. One minute, I’m happy and joking with my friends, and the next minute, I’m overthinking something someone said two days ago. Like, why did they say that?....

There are so many expectations too. Be smart. Be pretty. Be polite. Don’t make mistakes. Don’t talk too much. Speak up more. It’s like you can’t ever win.

Sometimes I just want to switch off my phone, stay away from everybody, and breathe. Just sit in my room, listen to music, look at the ceiling and not worry about anything. I think everyone needs that kind of break sometimes. Not every time “be strong,” sometimes just rest.

But then again, I remember that I’m not alone. A lot of people feel this way too. They just don’t talk about it. We are all trying to figure out who we are, what we like, who we want to be and it’s okay to feel lost sometimes.

So if you’re reading this and you’ve also felt like disappearing for a bit, it’s okay. You’re not weird. You’re not alone. Just don’t stay gone for too long. Someone somewhere cares about you, even if they don’t say it all the time.

Take your break, then come back stronger. We’re all in this teenage mess together.
