Revitalising A Winter Butterfly With Raspberry Jam

I quite enjoy taking photographs & videos of mini-beasts up close & personal, so this is my most recent one.

Over the Christmas break I came across a butterfly in the house (freezing cold in England, no butterflies anywhere). I can only assume it had come out of hibernation at the wrong time, and was sitting on a chair slowly flapping its wings, looking very out of place. There isn't much around for it to eat, so I drizzled a bit of jam-juice onto a plate and offered it to the beast - it had at-it!

I got a good video & a few pics of its proboscis unfurling while it slurped up the sticky goodness (raspberry jam is always a winner!). It seemed to really enjoy it!

After a while it had eaten enough and flew off, flapping around my head for a bit before flying into another room. I left the jam plate out for it & got on with my day.
