Glacier Blue
Been a while since I participated in one of these proof of brain photo contests but here we go. Last summer I got to go on a trip of a lifetime and took my dad up to Alaska to go salmon fishing. We spent 5 days and nights out on Admirality island. On one of those days instead of fishing we chose to go see the glaciers and were in for a treat. The boat ride took us through multiple fjords and we got to see plenty of ice bergs and the most beautiful turquoise blue water. Sadly the glaciers were calving quite heavily and we only got to make it half way up the final fjord before there were just too many ice chunks and ice bergs to avoid. While that was a disappointment the voyage and imagery did not let us down. Here are a few photos that show off just how blue the water was.
Entry picture, such beautiful turquoise water and a waterfall!
Steep glacier carved walls, the guide said they go another thousand feet below the water level.
Panoramic view of the entry to the first fjord
One of the many ice bergs. This one we ended up going over to and breaking ice off and eating some!
One of the many waterfalls up the fjords.
Zoomed out shot of the above waterfall
Another beautiful waterfall
