Black and white Christmas eve 🎄
Tuesday, 26th of December 2023 [110]
Hello Black and White community. I have joined this community many moons ago and have since enjoyed many beautiful black and white pictures, but this is my first entry to #monomad challenge for this community.
At the end of last week my secret little wish was granted and the skies have opened to cover this little Polish town in snow.
While I love the snow, driving in snowy conditions is not exactly my favourite thing to do, but since I had to go and pick up my car from the mechanic, I had not much choice.
I took a few pictures once we got there, but nowhere near enough! This opportunity for a bag of natural black and white pictures was not going to present itself again anytime soon and I had to capitalise on it!
Since I had to drive back home anyway, I thought stopping at the nearby forest won’t hurt. I could also practice my breaks at an empty carpark!
While at first I thought the snow would just give us a little scare and disappear as soon as it show up, an hour later I knew it was no joke! The roads were turning white at increadible speed and I had to drive back really, really slowly.
I always try to aim for clean windscreen when taking pictures from the car, but this time the falling snow made it look quite nice… almost a bokeh effect for free!
I parked my car at an emty carpark and ventured out into the forest. One would think that more people would like to enjoy these snowy times, but since Christmas was just around the corner, there wasn’t many takers. In fact it was just me, myself and a few birds singing along to my quiet steps.
In the eye of my camera everything looked black and white, but only once I got home and started playing with the pictures I realised that most of them were more like black and blueish white in comparison!
Pretty nonetheless, but for the purpose of posting in Black and White community, I decided to add a bit more of a dramatic contrast to them, by filtering through black and white options in my phone.
Back in a day I used to love playing with various options, but in my busy working life I somehow forgot about all the fun of editing pictures.
Black and white options are especially charming in my opinion. Maybe not every single picture can look amazing in black and white, but snowy captures are especially suited for it.
Forest made for a very pretty and varied captures, but as a bonus there is also a lake in that forest! That’s exactly where my happy steps took me that day and the lake didn’t disappoint 🤩
Of course the Boxing Day post would not be complete without a capture of a Christmas Tree!
Naturally decorated by white snow in black and white version of course.
And a rare selfie from that memorable day. Also in black and white!
Do you guys like to play with black and white pictures? This is a perfect place to show off your effects. To particpiate in #monomad challenge, be sure to follow the rules outlined in this post. Below screenshot is from that post too:
