Orange Flavistyla surprise.

This was my morning view today. I grabbed my coffee and went to look at the recent cacti blooms. And there she was... staring at me :)

This flower is just so pretty and so intensive orange! Not the biggest, but there is about 6 more buds to open. If they manage to bloom in the same time it is gonna be glorious view!
I have two of those growing together in the same pot (that already starts to fall apart). By next season I will have to split them or at least give them bigger pot. Mine are still small, but I read they can grow up to 10 cm in diameter.

This specie is native to Mendez, Tarija and Bolivia. It feels good in full sun to filtered sun - that's what she gets on my balcony too. Hardy to -4 degrees C which will never happen here. But does require winter rest.
The spines on this one are not very stiff and will not do any harm. The large amount of them protects the plant from harsh sun. Just like a layer of hair.

And now I wonder... can I cross it with another rebutia type? I have two blooming now. Just out of curiosity what would come up :)
