Una Conexión Especial

Feliz presente, mis estimados amigos especiales!

Luego de un largo tiempo me acerco a ustedes, un poco motivada por un post de la amiga Hive account@parauri, Rechazando ciertos colores, sabores, olores y texturas / ALIMENTACIÓN AZUL (Esp-Eng) y otro poco por la obvia preocupación de una mamá con niños con Autismo y Tdah.

Es curioso y hasta preocupante que haya personas que aún no conciben la idea de la conexión Intestino-cerebro y que de hecho pongan en duda la influencia que existe en ambos sentidos.

Según Johns Hopkins Medicine la Conexión Intestino-cerebro:

"es una red de comunicación bidireccional física y química entre el sistema nervioso central y el sistema nervioso entérico (el "segundo cerebro" en el intestino). Esta conexión regula la digestión, el sistema inmunológico, las emociones, el estrés y funciones cognitivas, utilizando el nervio vago y la microbiota intestinal."

De allí la importancia y el cuidado en la alimentación que nuestros niños requieren, cosa que para muchos podría sentirse exagerada. Y es que, es tan grande e importante esta conexión que no solo influye en lo físico sino también en lo mental de manera tal que al intestino se le llama "El segundo cerebro"

El intestino contiene alrededor de 200 millones de neuronas que pueden funcionar de manera independiente, y que se mantienen en contacto con el cerebro. Las bacterias en los intestinos tienen que ver directamente con la producción de neurotransmisores al tiempo que regulan la inflamación.

Cuando esta conexión está estropeada se suscitan las enfermedades neurodegenerativas y trastornos del ánimo.

Es indignante ver como hay muchos que mal informan aseverando que no existe ninguna relación y que quien es Autista lo es por otras razones; sin embargo, este tipo de este cuidado está relacionado directamente con la calidad de vida de la persona autista, no con una cura.

Aún hoy habiendo tanta buena información al respecto, podemos encontrar padres o cuidadores de personas autistas llenos de angustia, al ver que las rabietas incrementan, las diarreas o la falta de atención persisten y no se atreven a dar el paso para el cambio. La dieta libre gluten y caseína es una de las herramientas que tenemos en nuestras manos para ayudar, desde adentro, a nuestros hijos.

Necesitamos recordar que aunque el cerebro y el intestino se encuentran ubicados en diferentes partes, éstos están dentro del mismo cuerpo, bien coordinados y en estrecha relación.

Cuidemos de su alimento y que éste sea al mismo tiempo su medicina.

Happy present, my dear special friends!

It’s been a long time since I’ve reached out to you—partly inspired by a post from my friend Hive account@parauri, “Rejecting Certain Colors, Flavors, Smells, and Textures / BLUE DIET (Esp-Eng),” and partly out of the obvious concern of a mom with children who have autism and ADHD.

It’s curious and even concerning that there are people who still don’t grasp the concept of the gut-brain connection and who, in fact, question the influence that exists in both directions.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, the gut-brain connection:

"is a physical and chemical two-way communication network between the central nervous system and the enteric nervous system (the 'second brain' in the gut). This connection regulates digestion, the immune system, emotions, stress, and cognitive functions, using the vagus nerve and the gut microbiota."

Hence the importance of and care required in our children’s diets—something that may seem exaggerated to many. The fact is, this connection is so vast and significant that it influences not only the physical but also the mental, to the extent that the gut is called “the second brain.”

The gut contains around 200 million neurons that can function independently and remain in contact with the brain. The bacteria in the gut are directly involved in the production of neurotransmitters while also regulating inflammation.

When this connection is disrupted, neurodegenerative diseases and mood disorders arise. It is outrageous to see how many people spread misinformation, claiming that there is no connection and that autism stems from other causes; however, this type of care is directly related to the quality of life of the autistic person, not to a cure.

Even today, despite the abundance of reliable information on the subject, we still encounter parents or caregivers of autistic individuals who are filled with anxiety as they watch tantrums increase, diarrhea or inattention persist, and they hesitate to take the step toward change. The gluten- and casein-free diet is one of the tools we have at our disposal to help our children from the inside out.

We need to remember that although the brain and the gut are located in different parts of the body, they are within the same body, well-coordinated and closely connected.

Let’s take care of their food and ensure that it also serves as their medicine.
