Time For A Cocktail

It's been ages since my last art cocktail, so it it about time for a new one. There are plenty of photos left from my exhibition tours and mixing them is a pleasure.

For me, it feels like I'm the gallery manager and have the freedom, or the task, responsibility of putting together and exhibition. It's fun, even though visitors are on holiday these days 😆 Anyway, let's get started, shall we?

Let's start with this painting by Eduárd Csupán, called Yellow Leaves. If I were to use one word for this artwork, that would be fresh. I love how the golden leaves are taking up just a part of the painting and the rest it still green and blue. It's a healthy balance I think.

This is a photo I took on 22 September, in 2022. I still remember that exhibition, as it was amazing. It was a solo exhibition of Ioan Tamaian, called The Roof Of The Universe and this artwork was on the poster of the the exhibition. Unfortunately it was just a photo of it, the original must have been somewhere else but I liked it.

This is one type of art you don't see often. It's a mix of glass and metal, none of which is easy to work with and you need practice and precision to create beauties like this. I love this. Look at the lacy face expression, the colors, how well that metal color matches the blue beneath. This is a special kind of art and there were so many amazing works at that specific exhibition. It was good to have a look at them again, after almost four years and see the ones I loved back then.

This is a photo I took in January 2023, at an exhibition called Protest. As you can see, the artwork is called Free Tibet. What I'd love to know is if this photo (I think it's a photo) has been created for the exhibition, or it was taken at a live protest organized for Tibet.

This was the second piece of the series.

And there was a third piece as well.

I'm not a huge fan of this type of art, whatever you want to call this technique, but it's art.

An amazing portrait from the very talented artist, Ioan Alexandru Herdalau. This was a fantastic exhibition in June 2024 and I left some paintings out, to feature the portraits together, that never happened. Herdalau has a very particular painting stile and apart from the obvious brush strokes, what stood out on every portrait was the eyes. Look at this canvas and tell me what you see first. I see the eyes.

Most likely you don't need a description for this one, but I'd love to know what you think of it. It is made of layers of paper, baking paper to be precise. I took this photo this year at the textile and fiber exhibition. It's pretty shocking, or marvelous?

I left this one for the end, for a good reason. Most likely this colorful artwork is going to divide the public. Some will consider it simple and childish, while others will see its artistic value, myself included. These are not individual paintings. These are made of fabric. Fabric glued to some kind of ... surface 😬 It's not what I'd hang on my wall, but it's really interesting to create it.
