My first figure made from mouldable foam (Esp/Eng)

¿Si no salimos de nuestra zona de confort y exploramos otras cosas, cómo aprendemos algo nuevo?
Una vez incursionado en algo pienso que es importante continuar practicando hasta obtener la maestría.
Este fue mi primer intento de figura con foami moldeable, siguiendo un tutorial al que es puestamente Igor el personaje... a mi hijo menor le encantó pero a otros que lo mostré me dijeron que es un lindo Gremlin adorable y super cute, no sabía si reírme o llorar por eso... Al final me reí, porque es verdad, necesito practicar mucho con esto, las figuras complejas por ahora son muy prontas para mí.
Por otro lado, el material es muy blando y pierde su forma rápidamente hasta que alcance cierto nivel se secado. Para hacer figuras con este material definitivamente es un experto. Voy a probar con el porcelanicrón un día a ver que tal.
Igual te muestro mi comienzo, así como cuando hacía mis dibujos desproporcionados y feos y luego de tanto practicar, comenzaron a salirme muy tiernos... Espero que este sea el caso también.

If we don’t step out of our comfort zone and explore other things, how can we learn anything new?
Once I’ve tried something, I think it’s important to keep practising until I’ve mastered it.
This was my first attempt at making a figure out of mouldable foam, following a tutorial featuring the character Igor… my youngest son loved it, but others I showed it to told me it was a lovely, adorable and super-cute Gremlin – I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry about that… In the end, I laughed, because it’s true – I need to practise a lot with this; complex figures are still a bit too advanced for me at the moment.
On the other hand, the material is very soft and loses its shape quickly until it reaches a certain level of dryness. You definitely need to be an expert to make figures with this material. I’m going to give Porcelanicrón a go one day to see how it goes.
Anyway, I’ll show you my first attempt – just like when I used to draw my disproportionate and ugly pictures, and then, after lots of practice, they started to turn out really cute… I hope that’ll be the case here too.

Divido las porciones que utilizaré de foami moldeable color azul, en este caso son cinco (cara, cuerpo, manos, patitas orejas.
Comienzo dando forma a la cabeza, es una figura ovalada pero en la parte superior es más puntiaguda.
Divido en dos porciones iguales otro trozo de foami para hacer las orejas, esta le doy forma como una gota y luego aplano.
realizo las piezas restantes como brazos y patitas, luego el cuerpo que es una figura de ovalo.
Tomo un poco de foami moldeable color rosado y realizo la forma de la orejita por dentro colocando en su sitio correspondiente.

I cut the blue mouldable foam into the pieces I’ll be using; in this case, there are five (face, body, hands, legs and ears).
I start by shaping the head; it’s an oval shape but tapers to a point at the top.
I divide another piece of modelling foam into two equal parts to make the ears; I shape these into teardrops and then flatten them.
I make the remaining pieces, such as the arms and legs, followed by the body, which is an oval shape.
I take a little pink modelling foam and shape the inner part of the ear, placing it in its correct position.

Pego las orejas por la parte trasera de la cabeza, luego el cuerpo y seguidamente trato de darle forma a las manos pero el foami moldeables demasiado blando para mantener la forma, así que considera esto.
Hago un pequeño ovalo con foami color rosa y lo pego en la cara, con las herramientas de moldear, hago una hendidura en las orejas.
Luego dos bolitas para las patitas a las que aplano un poco y con las herramientas marco los deditos. Pego cada pieza en el lugar correspondiente.
Con la herramienta presiono un poco en la sección donde van los ojos, realizo dos bolitas con foami color negro y las pego en los ojitos, también le doy detalles en la cara.

I stick the ears onto the back of the head, then the body, and next I try to shape the hands, but the mouldable foam is too soft to hold its shape, so bear this in mind.
I make a small oval out of pink foam and stick it onto the face; using the modelling tools, I make a groove in the ears.
Next, I make two small balls for the legs, which I flatten slightly, and use the tools to shape the little toes. I stick each piece in its corresponding place.
Using the tool, I press down slightly where the eyes will go, make two small balls out of black foam and stick them on as the eyes, and I also add some details to the face.

Con maquillaje rubor doy toques en cachetes y orejas.
Con el marcador de pintura acrílica color blanco hago puntos de luz y con el color negro la boquita.
Aplico brillo para uñas en los ojos y dejo secar.
Hice un pequeño orificio para que cuando se seque, introduzco una argolla de llavero.
Pasarán días para que esta figura seque completamente.
Bueno... fue mi primera vez, mejor sigo practicando figuras sencillas, al menos con este material.

I dab some blush onto the cheeks and ears.
Using a white acrylic paint marker, I add highlights, and with the black one, I draw the little mouth.
I apply nail varnish to the eyes and leave it to dry.
I made a small hole so that, once it’s dry, I can thread a key ring through it.
It will take a few days for this figure to dry completely.
Well… it was my first time, so I’d better keep practising with simple figures, at least with this material.
