EU representatives in Tehran to assure Iran
The United States (EU) wants to maintain trade relations with Tehran, though the United States has banned the country after its withdrawal of Iran's nuclear deal. To confirm the matter, European Energy and Climate Commissioner Miguel Arias Canate reached Tehran on Saturday.
He will meet Iran's influential five ministers in the next two days. Among them, the country's foreign minister, nuclear chief and oil minister are among them.
Describing as 'the worst contract', the US President Donald Trump announced on May 12 that the United States will remove the ban on Iran's nuclear deal and reinstate its ban.
But while the United States withdrew from the treaty, France, the United Kingdom and Germany want Iran to continue the nuclear deal.
European Union also supports the 2015 agreement Many European companies have business with Iran. They will be affected due to the US sanctions restrictions on Tehran.
After imposing trump restrictions, Brussels is considering a penalty imposing restrictions on businesses from EU countries to stop trading from Iran.
EU leaders urge governments of European countries to send money to Iran's central bank to avoid financing.
But they also have many limitations in the plan. After the United States ban, many European companies have begun to reverse business in Tehran. They may also be banned from running their business in Tehran.
An EU official told Reuters, "We do not have any magic sticks, through which we will try to reassure Iran a bit. '
A senior Iran official said, "This mission of the EU is very important for us. Through this, Iran has indicated the continuity of the EU's commitment to the nuclear deal and its commitment. '
