Little things that count
We have become so engrossed with life and its activities that we have forgotten how to care for ourselves. Everyday is a journey, and when we are done with one, we hop onto the next, caring for the people who matter most to us. their happiness becomes our absolute satisfaction. But what about ourselves?
This prompt actually made me realize that for a while now I have not done any selfish act and am like what? So I have to think even harder just to come up with this one. Okay don't get me wrong I have done quite a number of good stuff for myself but in each of those plans, one or two members of my family were inside which makes it a selfless and not selfish act. So the things I personally did without including anyone was one; when I decided I would take myself out once in two months. So last year I made strategic decisions to be intentional about myself. I care too much about people that I have forgotten that it's first about me and not place anyone above myself. Even the littlest thing I do, someone was involved in it. Currently I am in my mid 20s and I am still shy to go to either an eatery, park or relaxation center alone and if I do so I would regret I did because it would be filled with boredom.
But then the hard truth was that I never enjoyed my own company. Soon I will start a family of my own by God's grace where it will be no longer I, I but us. My husband, my children, the family and all that. If I don't build certain memories now, it would be difficult to do so later. And ever since I made that intentional decision I have seen lots of changes. I enjoy my own company as much as I do when I'm with friends and family.
Secondly, I made sure I got inspirational materials for myself once every three or four months. This is one of the best gifts/investment any intentional man or woman can give to themselves. At first it is selfish but as time goes by it becomes a selfless act because the values you've held you now pass it on to another. They say those who read are leaders and leaders are burden bearers so I help myself to help others in turn.
And yeah that's it about my selfish act. ๐ I know they are not a million dollar plans but these little things are worth more than millions to me. They count in life's journey and I am so proud of myself. Although I missed a few outings, I'm glad to still be on track. Maybe next time, I will plan a solo trip out of my city. Can't wait to explore the outside world alone. ๐
