“Behind the Shadows”

There’s a softness in the silence,
a hush beneath the hood,
where shadows kiss the outlines
of a face misunderstood.

The lips are still, yet thoughtful
not trembling, not at peace,
just holding in the stories
that never found release.

Eyes tucked behind the curtain
of charcoal-black and gray,
they've watched the world too closely,
and looked the other way.

The light falls like a whisper
on cheek and gentle brow,
it doesn’t ask for answers,
it only shows the “how.”

How someone can be broken,
and still refuse to bend
how strength can wear a quiet face
and not pretend to mend.

So pause and let the silence
be louder than the cry,
for sometimes pain looks gentle,
and healing passes by.
