Making an offshoulder gown

Hello everyone, I welcome you all to my blog Hope you all are doing great?

Am I the only one who gets tired of a particular style on fabric and tries to change it to another style again. That's what I did by changing a cloth I wore to off shoulder.

Off shoulder dresses are characterized as having a neckline that generally sweeps across the chest just above the bust.

Starting with the upper bodice

I draw a straight line for the normal chest and the length I want, the half length to be, since it is a gown. I made the measurement direct on my cloth, so I removed 5 inches from the half length, the half length is 15, I deducted 5 from 15 making 10 then I added 1 inch allowance. I am using a straight line dart I chalked the bust line, waist line.

On the bust line, I divided my bust by 4 that is 34/4, it gives 8.5, I added extra3 inches allowance, for the bust and waist, I cut the front first. On the shoulder part (I removed 2 inches from the shoulder, which is 8-2= 6 inches. I cut out the neck, which I slant to the right (upwards) by 1 inch, then I cut out the armhole. I marked out the dart 3 and half inches.

The perfect measurement of the bust, waist and the allowance was added accordingly, after this I cut the back part by placing the front on it. I used the waist to cut out the skirt part as well.

   The sleeve

I wanted a long sleeve, but my fabric was not enough so I made it short. I calculated the length as 10 inches, the width is twice the normal round sleeve (RS) to make it puff. I made gathers on it and make a band of 2 and half inches for the tip to top stitch it.
