Shy Kids Needs More Attention And A Touch Of Patience

One thing I have been battling with in this motherhood journey is helping my shy daughter find her way around things and bringing her out from her shell for her to be her best. Every Sunday we give kids the opportunity to come forward and recite memory verses; at home we will practice perfectly, but getting to the church it becomes another thing.

Personally, this does not go down well with me, and I have been encouraging her to step out. I remember during the Big Brothers graduation when I sent her to take something to her brother; she insisted I go with her, and when it was time to give prizes, she also requested I go with her to collect her own gift.

Knowing that everyone is different in temperament has helped me to take it cool with her, but at the same time I seriously need to help her speak up so as not to miss out on vital things. The first thing I am doing seriously is to pray for her; secondly, I encourage her to respond to her aunt in class because if she doesn't do that, she will be rated low. One final step is to encourage her to speak up in church.

As we go to church this Sunday, I will do my best to make sure she presents.Shy children need lots of words of affirmation, telling them they can do it and standing by them to make sure they do it. Also, even when they try and make a mistake, it is good not to laugh at them but rather to encourage them that they did well and can do better. If you know other things that can help me with my shy daughter, please do tell me because I really desire the best for her.

Thank you.
