Lo que más me gusta de la actuación de Nicolas es que la serie tiene una estética y esa atmósfera de detectives de los años 30 que encajan perfecto con sus rasgos y profesionalismo. De hecho son ese tipo de películas del actor que me gustan lo que honestamente, me cerró la boca. La verdad es que mantuve mis dudas sobre la serie y la actuación no solo de Nicolas si no, de todo el reparto de actores pero la serie mantiene un poco lo que ya conocemos de las películas de Spiderman, siempre con un lado de comedia y acción lo que en esta línea de tiempo no se escapa de lo cotidiano. Sin duda que me he llevado una grata sorpresa con la serie.

What I like most about Nicolas’s performance is that the series has an aesthetic and that 1930s detective atmosphere that fit perfectly with his features and professionalism. In fact, it’s those kinds of movies starring him that I like and honestly, they really blew me away. The truth is, I had my doubts about the series and the performances not just Nicolas’s, but the entire cast’s but the series retains some of what we already know from the Spider-Man movies, always with a touch of comedy and action, which, in this timeline, doesn’t stray far from everyday life. I’ve definitely been pleasantly surprised by the series.

Nicolas nos entrega una presentación impecable logrando capturar esa esencia cansada, cínica y melancólica del cine negro, callando mis dudas desde los primeros episodios además ese giro de que no sea el Peter Parker de siempre es el gancho perfecto para abrir el debate. No es que sea un súper guion, ni tampoco se escape por completo de los trompos habituales del género de superhéroes o sea, tenemos los elementos clásicos que sostienen este tipo de narrativas, villanos con planes oscuros y una historia de amor que sirve como motor emocional.

Nicolas delivers a flawless presentation, successfully capturing that weary, cynical, and melancholic essence of film noir, putting my doubts to rest from the very first episodes; plus, the twist that this isn’t the Peter Parker we’re used to is the perfect hook to spark discussion. It’s not that the script is a masterpiece, nor does it completely avoid the usual tropes of the superhero genre in other words, we have the classic elements that underpin this type of narrative: villains with sinister plans and a love story that serves as the emotional driving force.

Esta serie nos lleva por completo a otra historia pues como ya he mencionado, no es la clásica historia que ya nos sabemos de memoria como por ejemplo: el tío Ben y el peso de la gran responsabilidad de un adolescente. Al romper con lo tradicional y presentarnos una versión completamente distinta, madura y ajena a lo que conocemos, es donde la producción marca la diferencia y se anota un golazo de tiro libre. Además, de verdad que esa atmósfera de detective de los años 30 encajan perfecto no solo con la trama sino con los actores que forman parte de la serie y de este proyecto. Hay un punto clave de esta serie y es que principalmente se pensaba que su lanzamiento fuera en blanco y negro debido a la época que presenta y de hecho no fue estrenada antes por ese mismo detalle. En mi opinión, ojala pudiéramos decidir como verla porque yo sin duda, la vería en blanco y negro.

This series takes us into a completely different story because, as I’ve already mentioned, it’s not the classic story we already know by heart like, for example, Uncle Ben and the weight of a teenager’s great responsibility. By breaking with tradition and presenting us with a completely different, mature version one far removed from what we’re used to the production really sets itself apart and scores a spectacular goal off a free kick. Plus, that 1930s detective atmosphere truly fits perfectly not only with the plot but also with the actors who are part of the series and this project. There’s one key point about this series: it was originally intended to be released in black and white due to the era it depicts, and in fact, it wasn’t released earlier for that very reason. In my opinion, I wish we could choose how to watch it because I would definitely watch it in black and white.

Para cerrar quiero confesarles que no esperar prácticamente nada de este proyecto pero me he devorado sus 8 capítulos y, para mi propia sorpresa, cada capítulo siempre te deja con ganas de más así que sin duda alguna, ya estoy esperando con ansias la segunda temporada. En mi humilde opinión lo que más gusta de esta serie es que demuestra que todavía se pueden contar historias fescas de Spider-Man solo necesitamos cambiar el tablero de juego y a apostar por una atmósfera diferente.

To wrap things up, I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting much from this project, but I devoured all eight episodes, and to my own surprise each episode always leaves you wanting more, so without a doubt, I’m already eagerly awaiting the second season. In my humble opinion, what I like most about this series is that it shows there are still fresh Spider-Man stories to be told we just need to change the game and go for a different atmosphere.
