With R for Robin
Today I wanted to share a simple yet very special moment we experienced at home, a moment that without planning it, pushed us straight into the Christmas spirit. Yesterday, or better said, during these days when everything already smells like the holidays, my girlfriend decided to prepare some homemade "rosquitas". As soon as she started, the whole house filled with that warm, familiar aroma that only appears when the festive season is close and each room begins to feel a little more like Christmas.
While she was working with the dough, we realized that there was a small leftover piece. Not enough for another full batch, nothing impressive on its own, but just enough to spark that playful, spontaneous idea between the two of us. We looked at each other and thought the exact same thing: What if we use this little bit of dough to spoil our furry little roommate just a tiny bit?
And that’s how our improvised project was born. Instead of shaping another rosquita, we decided to form a letter. But not just any letter, we shaped a big clear R, an R for Robin, our loyal companion, the one who always keeps an eye on the kitchen sounds in case an unexpected treat comes his way.
We shaped the dough carefully, almost as if we were crafting a personalized gift, and when it finally came out of the oven, golden, warm, and smelling absolutely delicious, we knew we had made the right call. Robin received it as if we were offering him the crown jewel of the day. His tail wagged with that pure excitement only dogs can express, as though he understood perfectly that this R had been made especially for him.
It was a simple gesture, almost a playful experiment, yet it became one of those little moments that give meaning to the holiday season. Moments of sharing, creating, surprising, and loving just a little more than usual. With R for Robin, because in our home, even Christmas finds its shape in a single letter.
