Give Your Hive Community Its Own Home

Today you can host a whole Hive community as its own branded site. Not a page inside a shared app, an actual home for the community, on its own address and its own look, with every post still living on the Hive blockchain.

Here is the short version. Go to ecency.com/hosting, choose Community, enter the community id and you get a site at hive-NNNNN.blogs.ecency.com that shows the community's posts, subscribers and about page. Pick a theme and branding, add your own custom domain if you want one and members can publish straight into the community from the site. Same price as a personal blog, about $2 a month, or $3 with a custom domain.

Why this matters for a community

A Hive community already has everything that makes a place worth belonging to: a topic, a feed, subscribers, moderators and a body of work built up over time. What it usually does not have is a front door that feels like its own. It lives as one section inside a larger app, sharing the same interface as every other community on the platform.

Community hosting changes that. The community gets a site that looks and feels like it, on its own domain and its own UI, while every post underneath stays exactly where it was: on the Hive blockchain, portable, owned by its author and earning rewards. You get the polish of a standalone site without giving up a single thing that makes Hive Hive.

That is a genuinely strong argument for building on Hive. On most platforms, a community that wants its own branded home has to leave and rebuild somewhere else and the content leaves with it into a database someone else controls. Here the home is new and the content never moves.

You control it, not the community account

This is the part worth reading twice. The hosted site is owned by the account that creates it, which is you. It is a separate thing from the community itself. You never need the community's keys and you are never handing your keys to the community. You run the site, you customize it, you decide the branding, all from your own account.

That means anyone can stand up a home for a community they care about. A moderator, an active member, a founder, whoever wants to do the work. The site is yours to operate and the community's posts are what it presents.

Members post into the community from the site

A hosted community site is not read-only. A logged-in member can publish straight into the community right from the hosted site and it lands in the community feed like any other post. Normal Hive community moderation still applies, so the moderators keep the same tools and the same rules they had before. The site is a nicer place to read and write, not a change to how the community is run.

Make it look like the community

Customization is built in. Pick a theme, choose one of several style templates, set a title and add branding so the site reads as the community rather than as a generic template. If you want the address to be fully your own, add a custom domain the same way you would for a personal blog, so the community can live at its own name instead of a subdomain.

Setting it up

It takes a few minutes.

  1. Go to ecency.com/hosting and choose Community.

  2. Enter the community id. It looks like hive-125125.

  3. Be logged in. Your account becomes the owner of the site.

  4. Pick a term and pay by HBD or by card.

That is it. The site comes up showing the community's posts, subscribers and about, ready for you to theme and brand.

What it costs

The same as a personal hosted blog. About $2 a month, payable on-chain with HBD or by card, whichever fits how you live. Add a custom domain for $1 a month more, so $3 a month total for a fully branded home on a name you own. Stack as many months as you like in one payment.

The Hive angle, in one line

A community home that looks like its own, on its own domain, with every post still on a public blockchain the authors control. The site can change, the theme can change, the domain can change and the writing underneath stays owned, portable and rewarded. That is the thing no closed platform can offer and now it is one form away.
