GYscifi - Space tug
GYscifi is a temporary prefix I'm using in my post titles for sharing content from an original sci-fi IP (Intellectual Property) I'm developing during my free time. In these posts I will share some of the artwork, renders, work-in-progress, lore and anything that I think might be interesting.
New minor asset - a space tug. If you don't know what a tug boat is - in real life, they are small sea vessels that are generally used to push or pull bigger ships into ports.
And yes, this one works in outer space.
Lore info:
The Taggart Aerospace TG-3 space tug is essentially a single-pilot cockpit strapped on a powerful fusion thruster. It's small size belies it's immense towing and carrying capacity that easily dwarf most ships of similar size. The underside of the TG-3 can be equipped with grappling arms or a powerful electromagnet to carry containers.
It's ease of maintenance and ruggedness is the primary factor for it's widespread usage in many spaceports. Pilots are advised to wear space suits as the cockpit is easily breached by foreign objects floating around in busy spaceports. Although usually unarmed, units operated by pirates have twin blasters strapped on the top of the hull to attack and hijack unarmored commercial ships.
