Vimeo & the Blockchain
Well not Vimeo exactly...but a competitor called Breaker. They're a video hosting company that, like Vimeo, helps content creators get paid from their audiences through VOD or subscription etc. Also like Kickstarter they enable content creators to raise money for their projects that can be distributed on their platform. A pretty brilliant idea to merge the two platforms so that you can retain and utilize the same audience all the way through. Where Breaker takes it even one step further is that they've put all this on the blockchain which creates transparency for residual payment (something the film business desperately needs) and I hope is the way of the future. But my biggest question right now is, are there enough crypto-savvy audiences in the world to float a business like this solely on cryptocurrency? Here's an interview with the creators.
