HAPPINESS IS NOT ALWAYS FOUND IN THE CITY SOMETIMES IT HIDES IN THE GREEN PLAINS OF BENIN
There are landscapes that stop time. Landscapes that remind you, in a single glance, of what is essential the earth, the sky, the wind, and the quiet dignity of those who live close to nature.
Look at this endless carpet of emerald green stretching all the way to the Atlantic horizon. Tall coconut palms stand like ancient guardians, their silhouettes drawn against a pale blue sky that seems to breathe slowly, peacefully.
The ocean glimmers in the far distance, barely visible beyond the hills, as if the land and the sea are whispering secrets to each other.
And in the middle of this living painting two young boys. Straw hats tilted against the African sun, wooden staffs in hand, they walk beside their white zebu cattle with the calm confidence of those who have known this land since birth. One smiles freely, openly, a smile that needs no caption.
The other stands still, steady, looking directly into the lens with eyes that carry both innocence and wisdom beyond his years.
Behind them, the herd grazes slowly across the lush green field white coats moving like clouds drifting low over the earth.
This is the real Benin. Not just the noise of Cotonou's crossroads, not just the bustle of the markets but also this.
This silence. This green. These children who carry the weight of their family's livestock on young shoulders, and do so with pride, with joy, with a freedom that no city street could ever offer.
In a world that runs too fast, these images invite us to stop, breathe, and remember: the most beautiful things are often found far from the spotlight, in the quiet heart of Africa.
