Almost all business exist on the internet, infact it is one best and easiest medium a brand can go global but the success or failure of that globalization lies on the methods and how we handle the process.
One thing is choosing a name known as domain name for your brand. Already your brand have a name, sometimes your consumers give your brand a name due to the nature, at this point we have to be wise to know if to choose our brand name or the nickname. If the nickname is over popular than the brand name then go for the nick as the online name.
Don't chose a generic name, because your product is about paint you now choose www.yourpaint.com , never helps. Generic name never helps in quality globalization of a brand, reason is we all have different languages. If you are from English speaking country then your bases of going generic no longer holds in a French speaking countries.
Choose a name that can be easily pronounced, a name one can remember at anytime. Don't combine name with numbers for example www.one4one.com , instead check www.oneforone.com . People always type in words than numbers.
Finally go for good domain extensions. You may use your countries extension like .ng, .eu, .fr, etc but we also know we have best domain extensions .com , you can think about .org if organizations. And never go for another extension when .com still available for that name you choose. Even if you don't want to use it buy it off.
