My uncle got me reading!

I spent some time thinking tonight about the impact one of my uncles had on my life.

I decided to write this up to share with his wife. Sharing it here too. Some might find it weird but sometimes i treat Hive like a journal.

I was a young teenager as I walked downstairs in my uncles house. I walked into his library for the first time and was floored. Soooo many books. I was shocked. I had never seen anything like it in someones home. I thought only schools and public libraries had rooms full of books. Little would I know that this room would have a big impact on my life going forward. I never would have entered that room if my cousin had not just purchased an iguana and was storing it in one of the library rooms.

How did it change my life?

Here you go.

After chatting with my uncle for a few minutes and him asking me about my reading habits he handed me a copy of The Fellowship Of The Ring! He handled all his books with care. He had a few copies of this book and wanted me to have one. I was honored to be walking out with my own copy. That ignited a passion for fantasy books and reading in general. I would visit the library a lot over the the next 20 years before he passed away. He had me read a lot of classic. His focus near the end of his life was studying all the presidents of the united states. I still have a list of books that he left that I need to read through.

I am thankful for his example of reading and learning.

When he was in the assisted living center and very sick I would often visit him just to help him download new audio books to listen to. he was listening to books until the day he died.
