iPhone8 waterproof? I don't think so

A couple of weeks ago I posted a blog on my disaster of a Saturday. One of the things that went wrong was falling off my paddleboard, not much of disaster in itself but my iPhone8 was in the pouch on top of my hydration pack. According to Apple it should be capable of being dunked about a meter of water for 30 minutes. Well as my head barely submerged when I slid off and was back on the board in about a 40 seconds I would have thought it should be fine. But no. The trick of leaving it in rice for a couple of days failed to bring it back to life.

So a friend here finally managed to get it checked out by one of the phone repair places here in Cebu City and this is the result.

Fortunately the motherboard was OK so just a few thousand pesos for a new screen and I'm back in business.

OK Hivers Apple rant over but don't get conned into thinking your iPhone8 is waterproof it could end in tears.
