商場避暑去 / Beating the Heat at the Mall

最近天氣真的越來越熱,待在室內只要不開空調，光開風扇，也是悶熱難忍，熱得連午覺都睡不著，但是想到要踏出家門，在烈陽高照的街道上走動，我就有點意興闌珊，要不是晚上有聚會，我還真不想出門，既然要出門，就提前去聚會附近的商場逛逛，吹吹免費的冷氣。

走進商場的那一刻，迎面而來的涼爽冷氣，總讓人忍不住鬆一口氣，外頭炙熱的陽光與室內舒適的溫度形成強烈對比，彷彿瞬間從炎炎夏日走進另一個世界，雖然為了節能減碳，有些商場刻意把室內空調訂在攝氏二十六度，聽說是人類感到最舒服的溫度，但是，也比沒開冷氣的我家，好太多了，至少，剛剛走路時不停流的汗，也止住了，正好看看這個商場有沒有好玩的事物。

這座商場有不少日本服飾與生活風格品牌，例如，AAPE 就是日本街頭潮牌 A Bathing Ape（BAPE）打造的年輕平價副品牌，店門口那隻綠色的猿人，還蠻引人注目的，graniph 的 IP聯名實力與獨具幽默感的原創設計T恤，也很有可逛性，SONY 在這裡有一個寬敞的體驗空間，讓人們可以完整的體驗最新、最流行的影音科技產品，最近，露營似乎退燒了，從主打都會露營風的特色餐廳，幾乎沒有客人光顧，可以感覺到露營可能不像前幾年那麼夯了。

沒想到，只是抱著隨便逛逛的心情，我居然不知不覺就把整座商場走了一圈，等我回過神來，竟然已經過了兩個多小時，照理說，逛了這麼久，也該到美食街補充一下體力，吃點東西、喝杯冰涼飲料，順便坐下來休息片刻，不過，週末，美食街可以說是整座商場人氣最旺的地方，放眼望去幾乎座無虛席，我繞了好幾圈，始終找不到一個空位，只好無奈地放棄，對很多人而言，商場不只是購物的地方，更是一個能放慢步調、暫時逃離酷暑的休憩空間。

The weather has been getting hotter and hotter lately. Even when I'm staying indoors, it's still unbearably stuffy if I don't turn on the air conditioner. A fan alone just isn't enough, and it's so hot that I can't even take an afternoon nap. But the thought of stepping outside and walking under the blazing sun isn't exactly appealing either. If I didn't already have plans to meet some friends that evening, I probably wouldn't have left the house at all. Since I had to head out anyway, I decided to get there early and spend some time wandering around a nearby shopping mall while enjoying its free air conditioning.

The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a refreshing blast of cool air, and I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. The contrast between the scorching heat outside and the comfortable temperature inside felt like entering a completely different world. To save energy, some malls keep their air conditioning set at around 26°C, which is said to be the most comfortable temperature for people. Even so, it felt a whole lot better than my apartment without the AC running. At least I finally stopped sweating from the walk over, and it gave me the perfect excuse to see what interesting things the mall had to offer.

The mall has quite a few Japanese fashion and lifestyle brands. One that caught my eye was AAPE, the younger and more affordable line created by the famous Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE). The green ape mascot outside the store is hard to miss. I also enjoyed browsing graniph, which is well known for its fun graphic T-shirts, original artwork, and collaborations with popular characters. Sony has a spacious experience center here where visitors can try out its latest TVs, cameras, headphones, and other gadgets. I also noticed that the camping craze seems to have cooled off. A restaurant with an urban camping theme had barely any customers, which made me feel that camping isn't nearly as trendy as it was a few years ago.

Before I knew it, my casual stroll had turned into a full tour of the entire mall. When I finally checked the time, more than two hours had already passed. After all that walking, it seemed like the perfect time to grab something to eat, enjoy a cold drink, and rest for a while at the food court. Unfortunately, it was the weekend, and the food court was easily the busiest place in the whole mall. Every table was occupied, and I walked around several times hoping someone would leave, but no luck. In the end, I had to give up and look elsewhere. For many people, a shopping mall is no longer just a place to shop. It's also a place to slow down, relax, and escape the unbearable summer heat for a little while.
