Water to Mountain Views (British Columbia)

Hello again everyone! I'd like to share another adventure with you all. This is in Maple Ridge, BC, Canada. Only an hour outside of Vancouver BC at Golden Ears Provincial Park. I took these pictures back in 2017.

Camped right by the lake for a few nights, the water is freezing even in the summer due to the glaciers. This is Alouette Lake, the scenery reminds me of Norway's Fjords but only a short drive away from Vancouver.

Another picture of the lake, there is a beach nearby the campsite, but I was more interested in climbing on the nearby rocks along the coast. the water is super calm, no boats on the lake at all.

Decided to go on a nearby hike that I heard about to get some better views of the lake. picture of some fallen trees along the way.

Decided to go on the most challenging hike up to Evans Peak to get the best views, got a better view of the lake, and not even halfway up yet.

Close to the top now, was crazy to see snow in June, considering the weather at the campsite was really warm. Walking up the trail the temperature dropped almost instantaneously once I saw the snow.

Now unfortunately at this point, I was forced to turn back. I was not dressed for the snow and I heard from some other hikers that in order to reach the peak, you needed some climbing equipment to scale a large rock. Or I could try to make my way around the rock but it was definitely not worth the risk in the slippery snow.

The point being, make sure you do your research before taking a hike. I hiked for a solid 6 hours up steep and narrow trails to reach the snow. Only to find out the safest thing to do was to turn back. Better to be safe than sorry!

Difficulty: Challenging (pack a lunch)
Length: 7-8 hours round trip
Views: UNKNOWN!!!
