Don't be jelly

I want to touch it

Jelly fish are such weird creatures. One of the coolest things I have learned about them is that they have been around for about 700 million years, making them one of the oldest species on the planet.

When I lived in Japan, I remember getting stung a few times by some jelly fish that washed up on the beach. They looked like nasty blobs and were pretty easy to miss as you are running into the water. You don't notice getting stung until a few minutes later when your skin is burning.

They are pretty fascinating creatures due to the fact that they have no brains or hearts. I really don't understand the purpose of these floating sting machines. But they do look pretty cool, especially under black lights like at the aquarium where I took these pictures.

Some species of these floating boogers have enough venom in them to kill humans as well, making them one of the most dangerous sea creatures. Good thing they are slow and can't really chase you, but I have seen images of massive swarms of jelly fish that would be hard to dodge if you were down diving or something and came up into a huge swarm of these things.

Getting tangled up in a swarm of jelly fish would be a horrible way to go out. I will just stick to looking at these things behind a window because I really did not like it when I got stung when I was younger and it wasn't even a bad sting. They are beautiful creatures though.
