29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the tombs of the righteous, 30 saying, ‘If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been guilty of the blood of the prophets. 31 So bear witness to yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 And you, only fulfil the measure of your fathers! 33 Serpents! Brood of vipers! How could you escape the judgement of hell?
29 Wehe euch, Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer, Heuchler!
Denn ihr baut die Gräber der Propheten und schmückt die Grabmäler der Gerechten 30 und sagt: Wären wir in den Tagen unserer Väter gewesen, so würden wir uns nicht an dem Blut der Propheten schuldig gemacht haben. 31 So gebt ihr euch selbst Zeugnis, dass ihr Söhne derer seid, welche die Propheten ermordet haben. 32 Und ihr, macht ⟨nur⟩ das Maß eurer Väter voll! 33 Schlangen! Otternbrut! Wie solltet ihr dem Gericht der Hölle entfliehen?
