Many children dream of celebrating their 18th birthday with a party, and many parents look forward to hosting a birthday celebration for their daughters, especially on this special milestone.

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope all is well despite the challenges we are facing right now. Well, for today, I would like to share with you the surprise 18th birthday party of my eldest daughter last January 2026. Before the day of my daughter's 18th birthday, my husband and I carefully plan if we pursue to give our eldest child an 18th birthday celebration. As a mother, of course, it's also my dream to give my daughter a birthday party or celebration during their 18th birthday. At first, my husband and I agreed to have just a simple get-together dinner. We will invite her friends, classmates, and our close relatives on both my side and my husband's side. We will just prepare some food like lechon, hire a caterer, and I will cook an additional menu too. We also planned to have our house blessing on that day.

However, I concluded that if I invite her classmates, friends, our relatives, my colleagues, and my BCBP family, why not organize a simple program for my daughter's eighteenth birthday? So, I decided to have it for my daughter as a surprise.

To save money on decoration, flowers, candles, and other expenses, I personally prepared everything. From food, dress, candles, flowers, and decorations. I asked my brother-in-law to cut the name, and I gave my sister the task of decorating. I created the invitation and program and assigned my co-teachers to be the hosts, while my former students did her hairstyle and makeup.

We began the event with a house blessing because, after the 6.9 magnitude earthquake, I'm grateful that my house survived and has no major damage. Even though some parts had cracks, it wasn't destroyed, and we were safe. After the blessing of the house, we had our sumptuous lunch. Then, by 4:00 pm, dinner was ready, and some guests showed up. Our program began at precisely 5:00 p.m. The debutante's entrance came first, followed by a welcome speech and prayer. There was an early dinner after that. Following dinner, there were eighteen roses, eighteen candles, eighteen treasures, and eighteen bills. Additionally, the host of the program had some games and trivia when her classmates arrived.

My daughter gave one last message as the celebration came to an end. She said she didn't ask for it and that there's a celebration. She was overjoyed and grateful to us for making the celebration successful and meaningful despite its simplicity. We also appreciate all of the guests who contributed their time, money, and effort to coming to our celebration. Lastly, I hope that my oldest daughter, who is now an adult, is responsible and committed to her education for the future.
