Refreshing Moments at Obong Spring

After having our Master Teachers Summit, we went to Dalaguete for the second phase of cascading the revised K-10 curriculum. Since it was a training and we were the facilitators, we prepared ourselves for it. We did not go out at night to get enough rest and sleep so that we would have strength during the training. So on the 4th day of our stay and having no topics to deliver we find time to visit one of the tourist spots in Dalaguete. That spot was in Obong Spring. Obong Spring is located in Barangay Obong, Dalaguete, Cebu. From Dalaguete National High School, our billeting quarters and venue of our training, Obong Spring is more or less 5 k.m away. We went there via tricycle. When we were in the spring there were no more people because it was already 6:10 in the afternoon and the spring would be closed at 5:00 pm. We thought that we could no longer take a deep dive into the spring, but we were lucky because the caretaker allowed us to take a bath in the spring. The caretaker knows that we were teachers from the North and we were just conducting our training and it's already an opportunity to have our visit to the said place.

I was amazed when I was there because the entrance fee is just 20.00, compared to the spring in our own locality which costs more or less 180.00. The spring was surrounded by or well equipped with many amenities like cottages with tables and chairs, a bathroom, and and comfort room. A staircase was designed perfectly to have easy access in going to the spring.

Since the spring was developed a long time ago you must be very careful in going down the stairs or diving since some areas were slippery. After observing the surroundings of the spring, we took a deep dive since the water was very inviting . .It was a very cool and refreshing experience that we all didn't want to go home. After 1 hour of bathing, we then take off from the springs and change our clothes. Before heading home we took a nice photo shoot in the middle of the bridge as it was designed for those who want to go to the other side of the spring.

The source of the water in the spring is in the very big Dakit Tree on the edge of the cliff. Maybe because of the very big roots and it was very old it's already a source of water. The spring is connected to the sea. Thus making the spring taste a little bit salty.
