What's buzzing, friends!

Photos are a powerful way to capture history.

They allow us to remember moments long after they have passed. Photos can also help us to understand the past in a new way. They've become such an integral part of our lives, we often take them for granted. But what would we do without them? We will lose a lot of history. Photos are one of the best ways to capture memories and moments. They help us to relive experiences and share them with others. They're also a great way to document our lives.

This brings us to the last King of the Hawaiian kingdom, Kalākaua.

Kalākaua, was a forward-thinking monarch for sure. He realized that a lot of the traditional Hawaiian traditions, in song and life, would be lost as the island grew. In 1881, he went on a historic world tour to bring more attention to his island state.

His world tour was quite an amazing story, more so that he did not go with a wide security detail, just him and a few friends. We encourage you to read about this story HERE. The part of this story we wanted to talk about was when Kalākaua got to the US. He met with Thomas Edison.

Because of that meeting, and this world tour, he brought the camera back to Hawaii, and was able to capture a lot of the history and traditions that were being lost to modernization.

It's often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. This may be especially true when it comes to history. If it weren't for the invention of photography, we would have far less information about the past than we do now. Photos can capture moments in time that would be impossible to remember otherwise. They can also help us to understand historical events in a new way. We can see things from the perspective of the people who were there, and we can learn about the everyday lives of ordinary people from all over the world.

So, next time you post on D.Buzz, remember, you are saving a moment of history for the future to see. To see the history of this last week's posts on our account, just scroll down and get up to speed, and no world tour needed to do that.

Capture history friends!
