A Bugs life! : My Actifit Report Card: July 1 2026
These caterpillars are enjoying a munch on some ragweed which I spotted while walking around the grounds of an old castle. I think they are poisonous judging by their colour. The ragweed is also poisonous to humans, so not a very healthy combination! 🤣
This castle is about 1000 years old. There is not much left of it now as you can imagine but the remnants of the outer wall are impressive.
It must have been an incredible sight when first built around 1000AD, just after William the Conquerer invaded England.
There are walls and gates that are obviously of much later design but fit well into the original structure. I walked into a wooded area where there are earth works and evidence of where the original walls were built but long since disappeared. A fascinating history of England.
