Ice hazzard! : My Actifit Report Card: January 7 2026

The lake amusements and activities are securely locked up for the winter here at Tilgate Park. I wouldn't want to go out in one of these dodgy looking dingies anyway! 🤣.

The sun was bright and it looked good from my window this afternoon, so I set out for a short ride. With the sun so low, I didn't have much daylight left anyway but made the most of it.

The tracks were frozen everywhere. Some looked too dangerous to even attempt, like the bridge across the motorway. I turned back and took a safer route.

So far, so good. No accidents but a few u-turns to avoid icy roads. I kept to the wooded tracks where possible as they were frozen hard but still rough enough to avoid slipping.

The lakes were well frozen of course, but looking nice in the winter sun. There was a fair amount of debris strewn across the ice, mostly tree branches, probably thrown to attempt to break the ice!

On my return I took a nice single track route through the woods avoiding the tarmac road which looked treacherous!

That was satisfying! A shortish ride of about ten miles today. My fitness app says it was a recovery ride! 🤣. It felt easy but not that easy!
