Childhood and the Beautiful Memories
It's always blissful to look back at childhood days. I believe this isn't just me. There's mostly nostalgia, that feeling of missing something you experienced in your childhood or younger days, and today they're just stories and memories. They were the good old days, as many of us would refer to those times and experiences. Indeed they were, as we rarely see some of those things again that we once cherished and enjoyed, with many going obsolete already.
Childhood remains one of the most beautiful experiences a person could have. It's a state of playfulness, carefreeness, simplicity, and innocence to many things. We look back at those times and feel the way we do because life has presented a different reality in the name of adulthood; one that exposed us to the harsh realities of life. A child doesn't see all of that, and that's what makes childhood beautiful, and the child free to be a child.
Looking at childhood, it wasn't just about that period of life. It's also about some of the things we did. We can't deny that some were wrong, but then they all make up the story. Is it going where we were warned not to, returning later, our parents finding out and giving us beatings? Or is it leaving tasks undone, to go play while forgetting ourselves in the play, then getting punished when our parents realised that? There are so many of them.
Childhood is all nostalgic because of the games and plays we enjoyed in those days. From the video games available then to the physical plays, I enjoyed several of them. From the VCD games, which were the video games then, to the physical games we invented and the ones we already had. Games in line with football, sports and even war. Chuckles. There were many of them. Due to the resources we needed to play some of the games, they were seasonal.
Another aspect of all this were the snacks and the likes that we enjoyed. It could be the homemade or locally made snacks that we duly spent our school money on. I remember how we spent on some when going back home from school. Or we would buy toys sometimes. I can hardly find some of the biscuits and chocolates we enjoyed in those days. All of that made childhood memorable and brings up the nostalgic feeling when one goes back in time.
