Sunday Stamps ~ Dollar

This one dollar stamp was issued in 1930. Yes, a long time ago! Back then, a dollar could certainly buy you much more than it does today. For example: about 4 dozen eggs could be purchased for a buck. Now, it costs around $17 or $18. That’s approximately a 94% loss in purchasing power since then, 95 years ago! It is almost like a 1% loss per year. Ouch. A good reason to stack SILVER or GOLD wouldn’t you say? The stamp depicts Mount Edith Cavell, located inside Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. “Edith Cavell” was a British nurse that was executed back in 1915, by the German military. Unbelievable!
