Williams James said, "habit is fly wheel of society."
Habit carry us through lives that are constantly under change and stress. Good habits, such as giving, teaching, serving or offering or ushering are often thrive in people who no elaborate or discernible reward system.
Apparently, they find meaning and joy in the enterprise itself.
