Two tires broken at the same time - An emergency purchase

I'm back with another post to keep this community going. This time, it’s about an urgent issue that had me worried for a few days: one of my front tires gave out on the sidewall, and at the time, I didn't have the cash to buy a new one. I put on the spare, but it’s bald and a bit warped, so the car starts shaking at 40 km/h. When I checked the other front tire, I noticed it was starting to deteriorate as well, so I had to buy two new ones immediately.

Por acá nuevamente con un post para mantener esta comunidad viva. Está vez sobre una urgencia que me tuvo varios días muy preocupado, uno de los cauchos delanteros se abrió en la lona superior y en el momento que ocurrió no tenía dinero para comprar uno nuevo. Coloque el caucho de repuesto pero está muy liso y algo deforme, el carro comienza a brincar a los 40 km/h. Cuando reviso el otro caucho delantero, noto que también comienza a deteriorarse así que era urgente comprar dos cauchos nuevos.

One of the best things about writing posts for this community is that it serves as a maintenance log for everything we do to our cars. Like when we change the oil, replace a part, the timing belt, or tires, in my case. The last time I changed them was last March—specifically the two front ones. That time, they wore out on the inside due to poor alignment or negative camber issues. Since then, I’ve put about 20,000 kilometers on them, which is probably half the life you'd expect from a Chinese tire under optimal conditions.

Una de las cosas que ayuda mucho escribir post en esta comunidad, es que sirve de registro para saber lo que hacemos en nuestro carro. Cuando cambiamos el aceite, una pieza, la correa de tiempo o los cauchos como en mi caso. La vez anterior que los cambie fue en marzo del año pasado, exactamente los dos delanteros, esa vez se desgastaron por la parte interna debido a falta de alineación, o inclinación por camber negativo. Desde ese momento hasta ahora he recorrido unos 20 mil kilómetros aproximadamente, lo cual podría ser la mitad de kilómetros que un caucho chino soporte en condiciones óptimas.

The car currently has over 267,000 kilometers on it, which I’m noting here for the next time I need a change. Getting back to the tires, I had to find a shop that offered financing. I ended up paying $58 each, spread out over three installments. They’re Chinese tires, and the price included mounting, balancing, and a nitrogen fill.

Actualmente el carro cuenta conas de 267 mil kilómetros, lo dejaré como constancia para la siguiente ocasión que toque cambio. Volviendo a los cauchos, me tocó buscar un sitio que los vendiera a crédito, termine pagando 58$ por cada uno para pagarlo en 3 cuotas. Son chino y el precio incluyo el montaje, balanceo y llenado con nitrógeno.

I'm not sure how good this brand is—they're called Dovroad. Like most Chinese brands, they’re manufactured by a larger parent company. That said, they seem pretty well-known around here and are considered a decent mid-range, budget-friendly option.

No sé que tal sea está marca, su nombre es Dovroad pero como toda marca china, es fabricado por una multimarca, sin embargo, parece que ya es bastante conocida en mi país y es una referencia de calidad media por bajo costo.

I hope these last a bit longer than the last ones, though I know that depends on the state of my front suspension. I still need to get the camber and caster checked and set to neutral. It’s been a long time since I had that done, and with so many years of wear, I'm sure things have shifted.

Espero que estos duren un poco más que los anteriores, se que eso dependerá de como se encuentra el tren delantero. Tengo pendiente revisar mandar a revisar camber y caster para ajustar ambos y que sean neutro, es algo que tengo mucho tiempo que no mando a corregir, seguro ha cambiado con tantos años de uso.
