Don't probe into her prostitution habits.
In one of our Teen Challenge centres a prostitute went to the director about an evangelist who was holding services at the centre, she requested, "please keep that evangelist away from me ." The director wanted to know why. She said, "When he counsels me he has an unhealthy curiosity about my past. He has a sensual spirit; I can spot his kind."
The prostitute can pick out those who are interested only in her body and in her habits.
As in dealing with the alcoholic, the addict, the homosexual, and other habit-bound persons, the counsellor must find out if she is thirsting for "living water". This is the kind of probe that Christ made with the woman of Samaria, a type of prostitute.
The question in dealing with a prostitute is, does she want to be clean?
