Pitogo Plant: Leaves Pattern Photo Quest Entry

Hello, hivers around the world? How are you?

This is my entry for the qurator@qurator photo quest about patterns.

Untitled design (2).png

I captured this Pitogo plant of mine in my garden because I was captivated by the uniformity of their leaves. For some who don't know what a pitogo plant is, let me share with you the brief meaning from google.com.

The Pitogo plant in English is known scientifically as Cycas riuminiana, a native Philippine cycad often called the Arayat Pitogo, Sawang, or Bayit, and recognised as a "living fossil" due to its ancient lineage, prized for its edible (when treated) seeds and starch, leaves as vegetables, and use in traditional medicine, despite being an endangered species.

Many of us use the leaves of the pitogo plant during the Lenten season on Palm Sunday as Catholic laity and have a blessing for it. I planted this pitogo maybe 5 years ago in a pot, but it didn't grow well, maybe because of the soil, so I transferred it to an open space in my garden, and this is the time the leaves have just boomed. And now I have to transfer it to another portion of my garden because part of the location I planted before has been used for our sari-sari store. I hope it will last, though, with how many times it was transferred. hehe

I've got the idea to capture its leaves because of their beautiful patterns, just like a flower arrangement. It captivated my eyes.

I want to say thank you to qurator@qurator, who made this kind of contest or challenge here in Hive. In this way, we can participate and improve our writing skills and also be photographers.

I am also tagging sis lolitaanana001@lolitaanana001 for this contest.

Photos were taken by me, and the lead photo was edited and other photos were enhanced though Canva.

Gratefully,
