I know it has been awhile since my last post. I have been visiting schools, speaking with principals and school leaders. I have been speaking to the children. If you were there, you would have moist eyes.

Such beautiful kids!

Our team of 10 split up and met with around 250 7th and 8th graders and spoke to them about their home life, the things that worry them and their fears and dreams.

It was amazing that almost across the board, these kids want to excel in their studies and finish this year with honors.

Their main concerns were not having sufficient funds in their family budget to allow them to finish school.

Even with this zeal for their studies, the drop out stats for boys is 16% and for girls 12.

There are some that just give up and quit, but the majority of these is due to finances.

Many of the schools are free! But there is still a cost.
As you can see by the photo, there is a dress code. The uniform is an expense!
Also school supplies and books are an additional cost.
As there is no bus program, the cost of going to school each day costs something!
Having something to eat at school or before school is also up in the air.
Many without food each and every day.

I am a big baby and I cried the most of the time I was listening to them. I am also determined to make a difference in the lives of these kids.

We are still assessing the island area that has no school. Looking for land and a suitable building spot for the island kids of Zamboanga Del Sur.

This is what I have as an update. Not forgotten! Just doing the groundwork so we can be wise and successful.
