Bhutan to Introduce Crypto Payments into Economy to Attract Tourists
The government of Bhutan has announced plans to introduce cryptocurrency payments into the country's economy to modernize the financial system and attract tourists with the support of the largest crypto exchange Binance.
The financial institution DK Bank is developing infrastructure and promoting crypto assets at the national level. The head of the bank, Ugyen Tenzin, noted that the country has achieved a high level of implementation of mobile payment solutions and QR codes, so cryptocurrencies are organically integrated into the existing financial system.
The launch and development of digital assets are directly related to the implementation of the large-scale Gelephu Mindfulness City project - a city that plans to combine blockchain technologies and the cultural characteristics of Bhutan. Currently, a number of initiatives related to blockchain platforms and cryptocurrencies are being implemented.
