My First Custom Budgie Cage I Built!
My son just bought me for fathers day 2 parakeets because he knew I've been wanting birds. Great surprise and gift.
So after we got the budgies I started looking at cages and was not very impressed with the ones I found in my price range ($50 - $60). I did purchase one form the pet shop that cost me $45. It was OK, but I already had a plan to build one myself!
Later I found that the 2 birds I got were both females and I thought it would be nice to get them some mates. So now I have 4 budgies. Two weekends later and I have some what completed the cage and have moved all 4 in there and they are happy as can be.
Still need to build the drawer for the cage for storage. But overall happy with the final product. Total cost a bit above my initial budget of $100 right around $150 total cost but I think it was well worth it. Oh I also made the swings and nesting boxes. Here are some pics. Enjoy!
