Warning: Scam Bee Token ICO emails doing the rounds

Anybody interested in participating in the Bee Token ICO better watch out for these phishing emails arriving into your mail box today:

Screenshot 2018-01-31 19.49.23.png

Email email gives you an Ether address for the ICO which is a bogus address belonging to the scammers.
https://etherscan.io/address/0xe336327426b8f95A5F5eB1f74144fD9065069C28

The email tells you the ICO has started (which it hasn't yet at time of writing) and also tells you that the individual cap is now changed to 24.93 ETH and that a 100% bonus is available. Both totally untrue.

The reality is, the individual cap is still a disappointing 0.1 ETH for the first 24 hours, here's the schedule:

  • 1/31 12:00 PM PST: Token Sale Contribution Period begins. Participants will have 24 hours to send their contributions up to their guaranteed contribution limit.
  • 2/1 12:00 PM PST: Contribution limits for all participants double until tokens sell out.
  • 2/2 12:00 PM PST: Contribution limits for all participants are unlimited until tokens sell out.
  • 2/28 11:59 PM PST: Token Sale Contribution Period ends.

The Token Sale —
It is NOT first come, first serve! Everyone will have a chance within the first 24 hours to contribute up to their cap. To > reduce Ethereum network congestion, we strongly recommend that you send your contribution during the > recommended contribution time outlined in your email.
After the first 24 hours (Feb 1 at 12:00PM PST) everyone will be eligible to send up to twice their initial allocation (if > you had 0.1 ETH cap it becomes 0.2 ETH cap, if you had 0.2 ETH cap it becomes 0.4 ETH) This will go on until we reach > our hard cap.

It's unfortunate that the Bee Token folks have not at least put up a temp website rather than a blank page on their official token sale website: https://tokensaleinfo.beetoken.com. The blank page is confusing and opens up an opportunity for scammers to move in to fill the void.

For the real information on the latest happenings with the Bee Token ICO, check the official Twitter account and cross reference with details on their Telegram channel - https://t.me/beetoken to be sure.

Unfortunately, around $52K of Ether has already been sent to this scam address. The transactions have already been marked as Fake_Phishing367.

While you wait for the ICO to start in a few hours, stay safe and don't FOMO.
