1st July Triggers More Electricity Tariff Hikes In South Africa

source

These days I have given up trying to calculate what my electricity bill will be each month so hearing that the prices are about to rise again only makes it more complicated. I have mentioned before the monthly bill needs a university degree to work out due to so many hidden fees not much makes any sense.

At the end of the day the total bill cost is divided by the kwh used over that period which gives you the real cost and the added admin fees x 2 along with the recently increased service charge for your connection are only distractions.

The electricity utility bill has already risen this year so the confusing part is apparently the electricity tariff has not and will do so on the 1st July. You start to question your sanity because the monthly bill is already higher by a good 20% and that was apparently not the kwh tariffs.

The crookedness and manipulations are a total joke when it is expected another 9 or 10% will be added next month. Just checked mine is an additional 12.7% so the local municipality obviously needs more money. The actual increase on your utility bill this year will be in the region of 28-30% which is criminal.

Last year it was revealed that NERSA which is the National Energy Regulator of South Africa who is in place to protect the public from crazy price increases did the exact opposite. They overlooked the R54.7 billion accounting error which they knew about and let slide which impacts every house directly and why all these little tweaks to the bill. This again was a planned R54.7 billion theft and what SA government agencies are renowned for with no accountability. Prices have risen by over 42% in the last two years and we still have 6 months to run which may see more tweaking.

The ever increasing cost of living is no joke and you wonder how those households already struggling are going to cope. An increase of 28% over the last 12 months is no joke and knowing the country will face a similar increase next year as these increases only dent the accounting error by roughly R12 billion with R42 billion outstanding. Instead of leaving these prices to pay off this accounting error over 4 or 5 years they will increase this and once paid off will boost their revenue by a good R20 billion per year. This was never an accounting error and think everyone else is stupid and cannot see through their plan.

Anyway I must not complain because I have an out with the solar which is nearly off the grid and at least I will avoid this circus of ever increasing prices which have been increasing even without the official announcements. This does make no sense as I know my figures and why this whole situation does not add up. One plus one is two and in this case I am seeing 5 and no wonder the public has no understanding of what is happening.
